Somaya Abdelrahman (born in 1996, in Cairo, Egypt) is an Egyptian photojournalist and visual artist. She studied Journalism at Hochschule Hannover in Germany and, in 2021, completed an exchange program specializing in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography. Her work focuses on social justice and human rights, often drawing from personal experiences and the realities of marginalized communities. In 2019, she was awarded the Magnum Foundation grant in collaboration with the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) to support her personal project A Permanent Wound.

In 2021, she received TYTW’s Emerging Photographers Fellowship Award. Her work has been published and commissioned by outlets including Al Jazeera, Anadolu Agency, Getty Images, BR24, and Middle East Eye.

In 2025, she received the Inge Morath Award and was selected for the Hamburg Portfolio Review. Her photographs have been exhibited internationally, and she continues to dedicate her lens to documenting issues of displacement, identity, and resilience.
